Kyo-kaiseki

Kyoto is the home of traditional Japanese cuisine. We recommend that you experience kaiseki (traditional meal brought in courses) cuisine including the distinctive ingredients, delicate seasoning and beautiful presentation once in your exploration of Japanese culture.

AboutCuisine

Our famous Japanese cypress bath

The large public bath at KOHRO Hotel is a Japanese cypress bath – a rarity in the centre of Kyoto. It is not a very big bath but you will be able to soothe your everyday fatigue with the aroma of the wood and the calm, harmonious atmosphere.

About Public bath

A place to relax

The architecture is unconventional, incorporating modern elements in a traditional design. We have different types of guest rooms from high quality guest rooms to guest rooms with Japanese cypress baths and modern Japanese-style guest rooms. One night of your journey, relax and enjoy modernism in the Sukiya-style (tea ceremony arbour style).

about Rooms
Cuisine

Our rich menu makes good use of ingredients

After all is said and done, the pride of our hotel is our cuisine.
We offer over 10 different menus from kaiseki (traditional meal brought in courses) cuisine to nabe (meal cooked in a pot at the table) cuisine.
We particularly recommend the kaiseki (traditional meal brought in courses) cuisine.
It boasts a reasonable price and enough content for full satisfaction.
Our nabe (meal cooked in a pot at the table) cuisine or shabu shabu (thinly sliced beef cooked at the table) using Murasawa beef are popular plans.

A quest for fine flavours.

I showcase choice ingredients in their best possible form and I try to bring out the flavours in the beauty of the ingredients.

Kaiseki cuisine

More reasonably priced than a traditional Japanese ryotei restaurant, this boasts enough content for full satisfaction. Enjoy the indulgent ingredients in Ogi Kaiseki or cuisine that uses Kyoto vegetables in Hana Kazura, our creative Kyoto brand vegetable kaiseki.

Kaiseki cuisine requires reservation in advance.

Nabe Cuisine

KOHRO’s Okisuki nabe (meal cooked in a pot at the table) with our own special stock and our classic sukiyaki (thinly sliced beef cooked in sweet soup at the table) with domestically produced Japanese Black Wagyu beef are popular. The shabu shabu (thinly sliced beef cooked at the table) using Murasawa beef of A5 rank is a popular plan.

The meat used in our sukiyaki is domestically produced Japanese Black Wagyu beef. The Wagyu beef has a meat quality rank evaluation of A4 - A5.
*Beef evaluation standards have 15 ranks from A5 to C1 with A5 being the highest rank.

Public Bath

Our famous Japanese cypress bath

Bathing times: 16:00〜24:00
6:30〜8:30
Body soap, soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided.

The large public bath cannot be used privately.

Yasurai no Yu (Gentlemen’s Bath)

You will not see such a large completely wooden Japanese cypress bath anywhere else in Kyoto.
This carefully designed bath comprises natural materials such as granite, blue stone and bamboo as well as modern tiling.
The bathroom itself does not house a particularly large bath but this may be the most outstanding ryokan bath in the town of Kyoto.

Nukumori no Yu (Ladies Bath)

The ladies bath is made of the same Japanese cypress as the gentlemen’s bath but the bathroom interior is mainly tiled with a modern and bright design.
The floor is of natural blue stone used for garden stones, etc.
